Education in Australia

Australia is one of the most preferred countries for pursuing education by International students. It stands tall as a preferred destination to pursue higher studies, next to the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

In Australia, a student can choose to study from over 1,200 educational institutions, and has an option to study from a range of 22,000 courses.

The Australian Government has stringent policies in place to provide world – class Education. The Educational Regulatory Authorities and Quality Assurance Organisations monitor the Educational System in Australia.

Types of Education

Education in Australia can be broadly divided in to two categories as below:

  • School Education
  • Higher Education

School Education:

The education system at School level is similar in all states and territories with minimal variation. School education is compulsory in Australia between the ages of six and sixteen.

It can be divided into Primary School and Secondary School.

Higher Education:

Australian Universities provide world class facilities at a reasonable expense for its students, which make the country a favourite educational hub for international students. The Institutes in Australia and abroad are connected through a common framework and mutual agreement. This facility enables the students to move through the education system in a seamless manner, pursuing their interests without any hassle.

Higher education in Australia can be divided in to

  • Bachelor Degrees
  • Master Degrees, and
  • Doctoral Degrees.

It is possible to pursue double or combined Bachelor degree, which enables the student from earning two degrees at the same time.

Australia has 43 universities. Two of the Universities are International Universities, 40 Universities are Australian Universities, and one University is a Private Specialty University.

Among the top 100 Universities in the world, seven are located in Australia. Out of 30 best cities in the world for students, five cities are in Australia.
