Temporary Visa – Short Stay Specialist (SC 400)

This visa is for people coming to Australia to do short-term, highly specialised, non-ongoing work. In some instances, this visa can also be applied for activity or work that is in Australia’s interest (eg: Emergency workers).

Key features of this visa

• For highly specialised, non-ongoing work
• Short-term validity – generally for 3 months (exceptions apply)
• Single or multiple entry
• Family members can be included

This visa cannot be used as replacement for a SC 457 Visa for a short-term.

Evidence to be provided include:

• A need to be in Australia for a short term
• Reason to return from Australia.
• Access to adequate means to support themselves while in Australia
• Will not engage in activities that will adversely affect an Australian worker

SC 400 visas are processed reasonably fast and can be used by businesses visiting Australia for non-ongoing work like consultancy, project feasibility study and other such activities.
