Student Visa (SC 500) – Independent ELICOS Sector

A Student visa can be applied for studying English language under the SC 500 Visa for Independent ELICOS (English language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) Sector.
Most ELICOS courses are normally of shorter duration (10-20 weeks). However there are certain ELICOS programs that do run for more than 12 months. Students generally enroll for ELICOS program as a pre-requisite to a Higher Education or VET Sector study.

- Enrolment – To be enrolled for a course of study that is registered on CRICOS.
- Students under 18 years must have welfare arrangements in place.
- All applicants meet the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement.
- Meet specific English language requirements as per course.
- Meet Financial capacity requirements based on course, duration, nationality of passport holder etc.
- Meet health and character requirements as prescribed for all applicants.
- Have adequate Health Insurance cover while in Australia for all applicants.
- Evidence of school enrollments for school-age dependents.
- Meet additional requirements as per course enrolled.
Specific requirements for each applicant on factors like GTE requirement, Financial capacity evidence etc. is based on individual circumstances.
Other requirements for a SC 500 visa may be based on factors including nationality of passport, duration of course, course provider requirements, past immigration history etc.
