Permanent Visas – Resident return visas

Most Australian Permanent resident visas are granted for a period of 5 years.
After this period, if an Australian permanent resident chooses to travel to and fro from Australia, they must apply for a resident return visa

This visa is NOT required for:

• an Australian citizen
• or an Australian Permanent resident who chose to continue living in Australia permanently.

This visa can be applied by:

• current or former Australian Permanent residents
• a former Australian citizen who has lost or renounced their citizenship
• while in Australia or from outside Australia

There are two types of resident return visas

1. SC 155 – Five Year Resident Return visa
2. SC 157 – Three Month Resident Return visa
