Temporary Work - International relations (SC 403) visa

This visa is for people coming to Australia under one of the following streams

  • Government Agreement stream: to come under an agreement between Australian Government and another country
  • Foreign Government Agency Stream: to represent a foreign government or to teach a foreign language in an Australian school.
  • Domestic Worker Stream: to do domestic work in the household of a diplomat.
  • Privileges and Immunities stream: be a person to whom privileges and immunity will be accorded under the international Organisations Act 1963 or the Overseas Missions Act 1995.
  • Seasonal Worker Program Stream: available for residents of certain Pacific island nations coming to Australia to engage in seasonal work temporarily. 

Validity of visa

depends on the stream applicable.

  • Government agreement stream - max of 2 years, 
  • Foreign Government Agency Stream - max 4 years, 
  • Domestic Worker Stream - valid for the duration of your employer’s posting to Australia 
  • Privileges and Immunities Stream - valid for the status as an international representative.
  • Seasonal Worker Program Stream - a specified date, usually the length of employment.

Obligations for Visa Holders

  • Must hold a valid health insurance during period of stay
  • Only work in the activity for which the visa was granted
  • Continue to be employed by the sponsor
  • Cannot work for self or any other sponsor

Applicants excluding the Domestic worker stream can include family members in the application.
