The Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) is a permanent residence visa for points-test skilled workers who want to work and live in Australia after being nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency.

This visa restricts the applicant and their family to live and work in the nominating state/territory for at least 2 years.

This is the choice visa for applicants, who:

  • fall short of the required minimum 65 points be eligible for a Skilled Independent Visa (SC 189).
  • Or want to increase their points score above 65 to get an invitation for a visa
  • And/or do not have an occupation that is in the MLTSSL, but have an occupation in a state skilled shortage list for SC190 visa.

Minimum requirements to be eligible for this visa

  • Age less than 49 years
  • An occupation in a State Skills Shortage list for SC 190 visa
  • At least Competent English
  • At least 60 points calculated in the points test

Steps to apply for this visa:

  1. Skills Assessment

    (some assessing authorities may require an English language test scores, prior to applying)

  2. English language Test
  3. Lodge a SkillSelect EOI
  4. Receive a state/territory nomination
  5. Lodge SC 190 visa application within 60 days of getting an invitation

Applicants cannot be assured of a SC 190 visa by just meeting the above minimum requirements. This visa application process is competitive and complex.
