Provisional Visa – Skilled Regional (SC 489)
The Skilled Regional – SC 489 visa is a Provisional Visa available for skilled workers willing to migrate to Regional Australia. It provides a pathway to Permanent residency over a period of 2 to 4 years.
Restrictions on this visa:
- Live in Regional Australia for at least 2 years and work for 1 year
- Then become eligible to apply for Permanent residency under Skilled Regional (Permanent) – SC 887 Visa
Suitable for applicants who:
- are short of sufficient points for a SC 189 or SC 190 Visas.
- may not have an occupation in the MLTSSL or State Skills shortage lists, but have an occupation in a regional skills shortage list
- have eligible relatives living in the designated regional area, who are willing to sponsor
Minimum requirements to be eligible for this visa
- Age less than 49 years
- An occupation in a Regional Skills Shortage list for SC 489 visa
- At least Competent English
- At least 50 points calculated in the points test

- Apply and Receive a State or Territory government agency nomination
- Lodge SC 489 visa application within 60 days of getting an invitation
