Visitor Visa – Visitor (SC 600)
This visitor visa allows passport holders from all countries to travel to Australia for:
- Visit or for business visit purposes
- To visit family
- On a tour with a registered travel agent from PRC (China)
SC 600 Visitor visa is also more beneficial than ETA (SC 601) or eVisitor (SC 651) Visas for longer duration of continual stay in Australia for up to 3, 6 or 12 months.
Visitor Visa (SC 600) – Streams
Tourist | Visiting Australia for tourism, holiday and/or for visiting friends or family in Australia |
Business Visitor | Visiting Australia for short business trips including visiting clients or suppliers, attending conference, business negotiations and other general business activities. |
Frequent Traveler | For people who travel frequently to Australia for a short visit for tourism, visiting family or friends or for business visit purposes. |
Sponsored Family | People traveling to Australia solely for visiting family. Applicants may need a sponsor who might be required to provide a bond |
Approved Destination Status | For people travelling in an organised tour group from China. |
Visitor Visa (SC 600) - Requirements
- Lodged at the Australian missions overseas in person or through appointed service providers or Online (limited countries).
- Applicants required to demonstrate reason for visit and duration of stay.
- Meet health requirements based on duration of stay, age factors etc.
- Provide evidence of funds or support from Australian invitees.
- May be granted single or multiple entry visas.
- Total period of stay cannot exceed more than 12 months in total.
- Each family member accompanying must apply separately
- Sponsored Family Stream, may require the sponsor to deposit a refundable bond (ranging $2,000 - $15,000) for the duration of the stay.
- Advisable to hold a valid health Insurance for duration of stay.
- SC 600 visa cannot be extended, but applicants may apply for another visa; the grant of which would cancel existing visa and any benefits.
- Under new policy, Parents of Australian permanent residents and citizens may be granted a SC 600 visa:
- Valid for up to 3-5 years.
- Conditional that they may not stay in Australia for more than 12 months at any time in the previous 18 months.
(This would mean that for every stay of 12 months in Australia, they may have to live overseas for 6 months.)
